Overview

A-PDF Text Extractor is an utility designed to extract text from Adobe PDF files for use in other applications. The program is a standalone application; no Adobe Acrobat needed.

To extract text from a PDF file, the PDF file must meet the following conditions:
- The file is formatted to contain text and not just images.
- The file contains no security restrictions which disable text selecting.

Note: Text formatting may be lost after exacting from the original PDF file.

Quick Start

Exact text from a PDF file can be as easy as two steps:

1, Click to select the source PDF file where text come from.

2, Click to select a target file where text will be saved to.

Interface

Open...	Open a PDF file as current file for extracting text from.
Option	Extract options. See options to learn more.
Extract text	Extract text from current file and save as a text file.
Stop	Interrupt during extracting process.

Page Range

Select to extract all or part of the file.

Extract

Select to extract only odd pages or even pages or all pages.

Header, Footer

Some special variants can be put at Header or Footer area of every page to display page information. Following are the variants:

&p	Current page number
&a	All page count
&f	PDF file name with full path. Such as c:\pdfs\my.pdf
&n	PDF file name. Such as my.pdf
&d	Extracting date

Extract Type

Select for output text type. Includes:

In PDF Order	Follow the inner order of PDF files
Smart Rearrange	Rearrange text based on the position.
With Position	Output text with positions. Format: @X=<xpos>,Y=<ypos>@<text>@ENDTEXT@ The unit of X,Y is point(1/72 inch)

Q&A

Why I get "Can not load file" error message when I extracting from a PDF file?

Make sure the file does not be used by other programs, such as Acrobat Reader.

Why Some text in PDF file can not be extracted out?

The PDF file format is complex, there are cases that text in a PDF file are actually pictures. We do not grantee A-PDF Text Extractor will work for every PDF file, especially ones that have picture text.
